Youth curlers between the ages of 9 and 20 who have participated in a Calgary and area curling club’s junior program for one or more years are welcome to register. With the age of Juniors set nationally at 20 and under as of June 30 of the current calendar year, registrations are accepted within this entire age category. Participants in this league tend to range from elementary to junior high school age. The CYCA Sunday League offers a structured schedule of games between teams with varied experience. Teams in the league can be made up of a combination of either gender or all of one gender. Each team is required to have a designated coach, but that coach does not have to have any previous curling experience. If you are having trouble finding a coach, please contact the CYCA Sunday League Coordinator at sundayleague@cyca.ca. Please provide the contact information for a parent/guardian in the registration form below (including an email that can be checked for regular CYCA Sunday League newsletters).
Divisions and Schedule Sunday League runs for three rounds, each round teams are divided into three divisions, grouped according to skill level. At the end of each round divisions are adjusted to reflect point totals, meaning that some teams may move up or down. As the Sunday League aims to expose youth curling teams to a variety of different locations and ice surfaces, games will be scheduled at several different Calgary and Area curling clubs. Each week there will be two draw times 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, teams may play one or both draws. Games are 2 hours in length and the newsletter will include locations and directions. The schedule for each round will be released by newsletter no later than 1 week in advance. As some teams will be participating in bonspiels alongside being part of the CYCA. Pre-season surveys will be sent out to learn which bonspiel dates your teams will be attending so that the schedule can be appropriately prepared.
Fees and commitments Sunday league fees for 2024-2025 season:
Full season (Rounds 1, 2 & 3) = $160/person + $200/person volunteer bond
Partial season (Rounds 2 & 3) = $130/person + $200/person volunteer bond
End of season (Round 3) = $100/person + $200/person volunteer bond

Volunteer bond is by a post dated, (March 31, 2025), cheques can be mailed to CYCA or collected at your first Sunday League Draw
You may choose to have a five person team, please note that the fifth person is also expected to pay $160. Dates and timelines for later rounds of registrations will be announced at a later date. Only individuals who are registered with the CYCA as Spares can be utilized as a spare in Sunday League (a spare list will be made available for all coaches). *financial assistance with this $200 volunteer fee is available for those receiving Jumpstart or Kidsport funding, please contact sundayleague@cyca.ca
