Volunteers are Very Very Important to the Curler's Corner Sunday League

Volunteers are vital to the success of the Calgary Youth Curling Association (CYCA). They play a crucial role in coordinating, running, and supporting our activities, and we deeply appreciate their contributions.

Our organization benefits significantly from the over $60,000 in funding we receive through the Alberta Casino Fundraising Program. We have the opportunity to host a casino approximately every 18 months, but we need around 50 volunteers to fill all positions and ensure the event runs smoothly. If we cannot fill these positions, we risk being removed from the program, which could lead to an increase in our program fees.

Additionally, volunteers enable us to offer special events and extras for our curlers, such as Christmas and wrap-up parties.

As mentioned on the Curler's Corner Sunday League Information page because we rely so heavily on volunteers we require a $200.00 volunteer bond, post-dated cheque for each curler. At the end of the season, all curlers who were not successful in collecting 20 volunteer points will have their volunteer bond cashed.

There are many ways to earn points, whether it’s by taking on a board position or helping out at a single event.

20 Points = President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Casino Coordinator, Sunday League Coordinator, Youth Development Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator, Club Liaison Director, Ray Kingsmith Event Director, Jam Can Event Director, Friends and Family Event Director, and Team Coach

15 Points = Casino Shift Volunteer, League Photographer

10 Points = Awards Coordinator, Ad-hoc Committee Coordinator or Chair, Club Liaison

5 Points = Points Event Shift Volunteer, Game Marshall
